When Alex was very young he performed a back flip out of his high chair, smashing the foot rest with the back of his head. Over night the swelling became severe so I took him to the local kid's hospital where he stayed for over 24 hours. That evening I met Chris at the airport to tell him our baby was in the hospital with concussion.

Fast forward to March 1st 2004 when again I had to find Chris at an airport to tell him that Alex had been in hospital overnight - but this time he had broken his neck. The great news is that he was operated on within three days and the severed ligaments have been replaced with four pins, two rods and a bone graft - he has no spinal cord injury, no soft tissue or bone injury.

Alex is a real people person. He also built on Sportmart's training and went to work at CanSki after high school. He won one of the prestigious I.C.E. Awards from Intrawest (Inspiring Continued Excellence for Guest Loyalty in January 2005) and was great success in ski equipment sales and boot fitting. Bored by retail sales he has recently tried hotel work and now finds it interesting to work in a Whistler night club - earning, rather than spending, money.
