Serendipity
Our trip to Desolation Sound in 2005 made us more aware of how wonderful
the "inland sea" is here in BC. In the summer of 2006 we took an
overnight trip on On Ne Sait Jamais, our 25 foot boat, and realized that
it is just not the right boat to cruise on. We visited Michigan state,
Exeter in Ontario, and Bellingham in Washington State looking at boats
before we decided that the New York 36 built by Schock in California in
the early 80's was the boat for us. It is a fast boat but is very roomy
and comfortable below with 6 foot 4 headroom.
We found six boats for sale on the internet in February 2007 varying in
price from about $40,000 to $70,000. We went and looked at the most
expensive one which happened to be in North Vancouver. We offered
$40,000 and it was turned down. So we took a trip to Puerto Vallarta in
Mexico and bought "Koloa" for under $30,000 on my birthday. We left her
there until November during hurricane season and had her painted a
lovely blue and replaced all the upholstery.
