Health and dental insurance pays back a percentage of medical and dental expenses tax free in exchange for a monthly premium. It can by purchased by individuals, but more often it is included in an employee benefit package at work.

Personal health and dental plans allow individuals to pay a monthly premium so that they are reimbursed for some or all of their expenses when they occur.

Health and dental insurance will not cover pre-existing conditions so it is important to buy it before health problems occur.

Many employee benefit plans allow conversion to a personal health and dental plan WITHOUT evidence of health when the individual terminates their employment. Only individuals who have pre-existing conditions will convert as the cost is significantly higher.
